Congress leader arrested in Odisha for illegal arms trade, two pistols seized

Berhampur, April 1: Ganjam Congress OBC Cell chairman Amir Bhuyan was arrested today for his alleged involvement in illegal arms trafficking. Police have seized two pistols and 10 live ammunitions from his SUV. As per reports, acting on tipoff a team of Aska police intercepted the SUV of Bhuyan near Pakalapalli and later seized the pistols. {"align":"center","id":105480,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} The accused, however, claimed that one of his friends had kept the guns in the vehicle without his knowledge. Police said that Bhuyan is being further interrogated to ascertain involvement of others in the illegal trade. “We are also trying to ascertain the source of procurement of the firearms,” said a police official.
