Bhubaneswar: The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) constituted a fact-finding team to conduct an on-the-spot investigation into the mysterious death of VLW Smitarani Biswal in the guest house of the husband of Dharmashala block’s Haridaspur Panchayat Sarapanch Madhusmita Bhadra on Wednesday night.
The team led by Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mahammad Muquim will visit the spot in Jajpur district this afternoon to conduct an investigation. The team has been asked to submit a report to PCC president Niranjan Patnaik.
It may be noted the Dharmasala police have detained five persons, including the Sarpanch’s husband Rupesh Bhadra, and are interrogating them in connection with Smitarani’s death.
Smitarani was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room of Rupesh’s guesthouse at Baligari. Earlier in the day, Smitarani had accompanied Madhushmita and Rupesh in distribution of pension in the gram panchayat.
