New Delhi, August 1: In a major relief for businesses, oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than ₹200, with the revised rates coming into effect from August 1.
Under the latest revision, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been cut by ₹202 in Delhi and ₹209 in Kolkata. Following the reduction, the new price in Delhi stands at ₹2,872.50.
The price cut is expected to benefit restaurants, hotels, roadside eateries, caterers and other small businesses that rely heavily on commercial LPG for daily operations. The move comes amid fluctuations in global fuel prices and is likely to ease operational costs for commercial establishments.
However, there is no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, meaning household consumers will continue to pay the existing rates.
Business owners have welcomed the reduction, expressing cautious optimism that the lower fuel costs could help improve margins. Many consumers also hope that restaurants and food outlets will pass on some of the savings to customers, while others have urged the government and oil companies to extend similar relief to domestic LPG users.
The revised commercial LPG prices are effective nationwide from August 1, with rates varying slightly across cities due to local taxes and transportation costs.
