Cold wave sweeps Odisha, G Udaygiri records 4.6°C as temperatures plummet

Bhubaneswar, Jan 04: Cold wave conditions gripped several parts of Odisha on Saturday, with temperatures plummeting to 4.6 degrees Celsius in G Udaygiri, Kandhamal district, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In the past 24 hours, ten locations across the state recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. These included Semiliguda in Koraput (5.5°C), Phulbani in Kandhamal (7.5°C), Rourkela (8.7°C), Koraput (8.8°C), Jharsuguda and Angul (9°C), Daringbadi (9.5°C), and Bhawanipatna and Chiplima (9.9°C).
Bhubaneswar, the state capital, recorded its season's lowest temperature at 12.7°C, which was 2.3 degrees below the normal. Cuttack also experienced a chilly 12.4°C.
The IMD forecasted no significant change in minimum temperatures over the next two days, though a rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius may follow. Light to moderate fog is expected on Sunday morning in districts including Anugul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
