Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today wrote to Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal requesting him to introduce trains over Khurda-Bolangir new rail line.
Patnaik also requested Goyal to introduce a daily passenger train on the newly constructed Bolangir-Bhainsapalli section of Khurda Bolangir railway line and extension of express trains like Garib Rath to Nayagarh.
“My Government is partnering Railways and is investing 50% of construction cost as well as providing all land free of cost in the Daspalla to Bolangir portion (177 km) of the project. In this context, we have pursed with your Ministry to start work from Bolangir end, where 19 km of land had been handed over to Railways since 2010,” Patnaik said.
It is learnt that, finally all works for 16 km from Bolangir to Bhainsapalli (16 km) section has now been completed and also the mandatory inspection of Commissioner of Railway Safety has been successfully completed in October 2018, Patnaik said.
“Railways have not introduced any passenger services over this section, for which people are waiting since a long time. I request you to introduce one passenger train in this section, without any further delay, so that the genuine aspirants of the people of western Odisha can be met,” urged Patnaik.
