Bhubaneswar: The security in the city has been tightened for the State-level Independence Day function, in which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will unfurl the Tricolour at IDCO Exhibition Ground in Unit-III here on Thursday.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to unfurl the Tricolour at 9.15am amid tight security arrangements.

For the first time the state-level Independence Day parade is being organised at a venue other than the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. Security has been beefed up inside and around the venue to ensure a safe and incident-free event.

This apart, an exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi’s life will be organised at the Exhibition Ground marking the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation. A photo exhibition on the Mahatma’s life and his memorabilia will also be exhibited during Independence Day celebrations.
