Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patanik will inaugurate the light and laser show at historic Bindusagar pond tomorrow, informed Culture and Tourism Minister Ashok Panda today.
Ahead of the commencement of World Cup Hockey from November 28, the Tourism Department has planned to introduce musical fountain project coupled with a multimedia laser show at the pond.
The trial run of the project was conducted recently.
“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the project tomorrow. And the laser shows will start at Bindusagar,” said the Minister.
The project has been developed at a cost of Rs 8 crore, sources said. Premierworld Technology, a private firm, has developed the project. The firm has also been given the charge of its operation and maintenance for five years.
The historic pond, which is built around 8th century and is spread over an area of about 21.9 acres. The pond is 450 metres long and 320 metres wide. The pond is used by the devotees and priests for conducting the rituals of lord Lingaraj.
Notably, the State Government has taken elaborate measures to beautify the city ahead of the month-long Men’s World Cup Hockey.
