Bhubaneswar:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today took stock of the flood situation and cyclone restoration works in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts.
Two Indian Navy choppers from Vishakapatnam will be pressed into action in Ganjam districts from today Friday to expedite the relief and rescue operations, said Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi after the review meeting.
Incessant downpour lashed several parts of south and coastal districts of the State in past 24 hours under the impact of severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’. The heavy rainfall has triggered flood situation in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Puri and Balasore. The heavy rains have triggered floods in Rushikulya and Bansadhara rivers.
The Chief Minister after taking stock of the flood situation in three districts asked the Collectors to closely monitor the situation and shift people to safe place. He said that all manpower will be used to tackle flood.
The Chief Minister asked the collectors of Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada to submit damage assessment reports in seven days.
