Puri, June 27: In a heartwarming gesture reflecting Odisha’s spirit of hospitality and devotion, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined devotees at the Rath Yatra 2025 festivities by distributing ‘Tanka Torani’ at the Odisha Police’s Karuna Camp near Singhadwar.
The Chief Minister arrived at the camp amidst tight security but was warmly received by devotees and volunteers. He personally served the refreshing drink to pilgrims who had gathered in large numbers to witness the ceremonial chariot pulling of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra.
Karuna Camp, an initiative of Odisha Police, provides essential services such as drinking water, first aid, and rest areas to the lakhs of devotees participating in the Rath Yatra. The CM lauded the efforts of the police and volunteers, stating that such services embody the true essence of “Seva” (service) in Jagannath culture.
“Tanka Torani not only quenches thirst but also reflects the warmth and tradition of Odisha. Serving it to devotees is an honour,” Majhi said.
His presence added a touch of humility and connection to the celebrations, drawing praise from onlookers and reinforcing the people-centric approach of his leadership.
