Bhubaneswar, July 13: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited AIIMS Bhubaneswar today to check the condition of the Fakir Mohan Autonomous College student who attempted self-immolation over alleged harassment.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said the student is being treated with the same level of care as provided at AIIMS New Delhi.

“A dedicated team of expert doctors has been assigned to oversee her treatment, and a virtual consultation with specialists from AIIMS New Delhi is scheduled for today,” he said.

Majhi added that if her condition improves and medical experts recommend it, she will be airlifted to AIIMS New Delhi for further care.

During his visit, the Chief Minister also spoke with the student's family.

The state’s Higher Education Department has formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the harassment allegations.

“Appropriate action will be taken based on the committee’s findings,” Majhi stated.

He further assured that preventive measures will be implemented to avoid such incidents in educational institutions going forward.
