Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Rs 10 lakh cash award for Odia para-athlete Jayanti Behera, who won bronze medal in 200 metre sprint at the Asian Para Games 2018 held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Patnaik said Odisha is proud of her achievement.
“Congratulate Jayanti Behera for winning bronze medal in 200 metre sprint at the @asianpg2018 held in Jakarta, Indonesia. #Odisha is proud of your achievement. Happy to announce ₹10 lakh prize for her. #OdishaForIndia,” Patnaik tweeted.
Behera made her state and country proud Tuesday as she clinched a bronze medal in the ongoing Asian Para Games in the women’s 200m T45/46/47 event at the GBK Stadium in Jakarta. She clocked a timing of 27.45 seconds to finish the race. China’s Li Lu with 25.82 seconds and Wang Yanping with 26.45 seconds grabbed the first and the second positions respectively.
