CM announces homestead land to families displaced for Hirakud project

Jharsuguda, Nov 15: Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik on Monday announced to provide homestead land to the families, who were displaced for the Hirakud Dam project. The announcement was made on the occasion of distribution of BSKY smart health cards programme in Jharsuguda. As many as 2000 families were displaced during the construction of the Hirakud dam project. “The Odisha government will provide homestead land to 2000 families displaced for the Hirakud project. The decision will resolve the long standing issue of these families” said Patnaik in a video message. Patnaik also launched the distribution of BSKY Health Cards which will benefit around 1.15 lakh people of Jharsuguda. The Chief Minister also inaugurated several welfare projects worth Rs 144 crore which include two water treatment plants for Jharsuguda, Brajarajnagar and laid foundation stones for various projects worth Rs 153 crore in the district. Soon the 100-bedded cardiac care hospital is expected to be operational in Jharsuguda and 50 per cent of its bed capacity will be earmarked for providing free treatment to poor patients, sources said.
