Bhubaneswar: Expressing grief over the death of two persons, including a woman after being attacked by a mentally retarded at Odagaon Bazaar in Nayagarh district this morning, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the kin of two persons.

The Chief Minister also announced to provide free treatment to the injured persons in the incident.

Early this morning, two persons were killed and more than 10 people were injured when a mentally retarded suddenly attacked them with stick and stones at the Odagaon Bazaar in Nayagarh district.

While one person died on the spot, a woman died in the hospital. According to reports, the youth also didn’t spare police personnel who had gone to nab him. The Odagan police station IIC was also injured in the attack.

Following the incident, the irate locals had blocked the Odagaon-Bhanjanagar road demanding compensation for the families of the victims.

Meanwhile, Odagaon police managed to nab accused Niranjan Mallick.
