Closing Gaps in Asthma care-WHO

Bhubaneswar, May 12: Do you suffering from asthma? Then, it will be imperative for you to seek timely treatment for this condition as neglecting it can invite various health complications that can turn life-threatening. It is a major noncommunicable disease (NCD), affecting both children and adults, asthma is caused due to inflammation.

It is a respiratory disease that can cause inflammation from the airways to the lungs and the condition can make breathing difficult to an extent that patients cannot perform their daily activities.

In an interview with PrameyaEnglish, Dr Sadhu Charan Panda, said, “Asthama is a condition when the bronchus get obstructed. Manu allergies like people with dust mite allergy also experience signs of asthma, such as wheezing and difficulty breathing. Whenever we face difficulties in breathing we must visit doctor. With the help of spirometry, we can assess how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. We can also know whether there is asthama Or not. So don’t ignore if you are facing breathing issues. Let’s be aware and take care of lungs.”

Dr. Siba Prasad Dalai, Assistant professor Sum Hospital, Bhubaneswar said, “We should make each and every individual aware about the fact that despite being a chronic illness Asthama can be controlled and managed to lead a healthy life. Patients should continue to take medication and use inhaler as per the advice of the doctor… Even it is under control and should not stop medication without proper advice.”
