
Kendrapara, Oct 10: Eight fishermen had a narrow escape on Thursday night after their fishing boat capsized in rough sea conditions near Satabhaya beach in Kendrapara district. Fortunately, all of them managed to swim to safety despite the strong waves.
According to reports, the boat, named Tarini-2, was returning from a fishing expedition when it was caught in turbulent weather. High waves and strong winds overturned the vessel, throwing the fishermen into the sea.
The fishermen, all residents of Bhadrak district, managed to swim ashore after the incident. While no loss of life was reported, the mishap led to the sinking of the boat and their fishing equipment, resulting in significant property loss.
Local authorities have been informed about the incident, and steps are being taken to assess the damage. Officials have also urged fishermen to exercise caution and avoid venturing into the sea under adverse weather conditions.
