Kendrapara, July 16: In a tragic incident, a Class X girl student drowned while bathing in a pond in Mahakalpada block of Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Bhagyashree Rout and the incident has been reported from Bandhapada village.
According to reports, Bhagyashree's parents work in a textile mill in Gujarat. She was living with her uncle's family and studying in Bandhapada village when she slipped and fell into a pond while bathing.
After learning about it, locals rushed to the scene and pulled her out of the water. She was rushed to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) where the attending doctors declared her dead.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the girl’s body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
A pal of gloom descended on the village following the tragic incident.
