Balangir, Sept 6: In a shocking incident, a Class IX student allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room in Kantabanji area of Odisha’s Balangir district.
The deceased student has been identified as Adarsh Seth, a resident of Belapada area in Patnagarh, and was studying in Lions Public School in Kantabanji.
As per reports, the incident took place at the Anwesha Hostel in Hianal under Kantabanji police limits. Adarsh had returned to the hostel on September 3 after visiting his village for the Nuakhai festival.
However, his body was found hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room on Saturday. The hostel authorities immediately alerted the Kantabanji police.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and brought the body down before sending it for post-mortem.
The cops also informed the student’s family following which Adarsh’s mother arrived at the hostel.
Though the exact cause of death remains unknown, it is being suspected that he might have committed suicide by hanging.
A probe has been initiated into the matter to determine the reasons behind Adarsh’s death, said the police.
