Phulbani, Oct 20: A Class 8 girl was allegedly raped in the Daringbadi police station area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Monday. The accused reportedly lured the victim under the pretext of buying her a pair of slippers.
According to the complaint, the man convinced the minor to accompany him to Daringbadi, promising to purchase new footwear for her. He then allegedly took her to a secluded forested area, where he committed the assault.
After learning the ordeal from the victim, the girl’s uncle lodged a written complaint at the Daringbadi police station.
The girl’s parents reportedly are currently working as migrant labourers in another state.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated search operations across multiple locations to apprehend the accused, who is currently absconding.
