CISF chief Subodh Jaiswal appointed as new CBI director

New Delhi, May 25: The government has appointed CISF chief Subodh Kumar Jaiswal and former Maharashtra DGP as the new Director of CBI. Jaiswal, a Maharashtra cadre IPS officer was chosen from a list of three officers that the PM-led Selection Committee had arrived at following a meeting on Monday. “Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has, based on the panel recommended by the (Selection) Committee, approved the appointment of Shri Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, IPS (MH: 1985) as Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of two years from the date of assumption of charge of the office or until further orders whichever is earlier,” read a government order issued through the Department of Personnel and Training on Tuesday. Apart from the Prime Minister, the selection committee comprised of Opposition leader and Congress Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Chief Justice of India N V Ramana.
