Bhubaneswar, June 3: Chhattisgarh purchases power from Odisha by Real time Sell mechanism. It pulls electricity from Hirakud through national tender, said the Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra. Responding to the allegation of the opposition leaders on reduction of electricity duty for Chhattisgarh while demanding more in Odisha, Mishra said that a tender was called at the national level for power transmission from Hirakud Hydro electricity project. Accordingly, the Chhattisgarh Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) procures power from Hirakud after qualifying in the tender process. It purchases power from Gridco as per the price fixed on the basis of the real time sell. Thus, the State Energy Department has no role on supplying electricity to the neighbouring state with less duty than the consumers of Odisha, said Mishra. Notably, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has hiked the electricity duty for the domestic consumers while the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has reduced 0.20 rupees per unit for CSPDCL, Chhattisgarh recently.
