Bhubaneswar, July 24: Days after appointment of new Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) presidents in Uttarakhand and Punjab, intense speculations over the change of Odisha Congress are rife in political circles in the state.
While there is no word from the top leadership about the possibility of the change of president in the state, a section of the party have started lobbying for the guard change.
If rumour to be believed, senior leader and Barabati MLA Muhammad Moquim may be named as the new chief of Odisha unit. However, names of former PCC presents– Sharat Patnaik and Jaydev Jena, ex-MP Chiranjeeb Biswal, and senior party MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati are also in the race for the top post.
It is needless to mention, the present president Niranjan Patnaik had offtered his resignation from the post after party’s miserable performance in the 2019 general elections. Party high command had asked him to hold the post till the alternative arrangements. Meanwhile, separate delegations of the party have met the high command demanding change of the guard.
Recently, the Congress revamped its media team in the state with appointment of chairman, convener, coordinator and members of Media and Communication department.
