Mayurbhanj, June 8: The mysterious death of medical student Chandrika Hembrom has taken a fresh turn after her cousin claimed that a personal diary maintained by the deceased has gone missing, raising questions about whether it contained crucial information related to her life and the circumstances leading up to her death.

Chandrika’s cousin, Rashmita Hansda, alleged that the medical student had started writing a diary after differences reportedly developed between her and her boyfriend, OAS trainee Bhimsen Prasad Tudu. According to Rashmita, both of them had purchased similar diaries, but Chandrika never allowed anyone to read the contents despite repeated requests.

Rashmita said Chandrika continued writing in the diary during a recent visit to Bhubaneswar, just days before the incident. However, following her death, the diary could not be located either at her residence or among the belongings reportedly taken into custody by investigators.

The disappearance of the diary has deepened the mystery surrounding the case, with family members believing it may contain important details about Chandrika’s personal experiences, emotional state, and events preceding her death.

Adding to the family's concerns, Rashmita claimed that after Chandrika's death, she had sent photographs and information related to the incident to Bhimsen and requested him to come to Cuttack. Although the messages were reportedly viewed, she alleged that he did not respond.

She further claimed that Bhimsen later unfollowed Chandrika and several of her relatives on social media platforms, a development that has drawn the attention of investigators and family members as well.

As demands for justice grow louder, Chandrika’s family has called for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the case. They have urged police to identify and take action against anyone found responsible if evidence of wrongdoing emerges.

The family also plans to raise the matter with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Director General of Police, and the Superintendent of Police of Mayurbhanj district.

During a visit to the bereaved family, Bhaskar Madhei, MLA from Udala and Chairman of the District Planning Board, assured them that efforts would be made to ensure a fair and speedy investigation. He emphasized that all possible angles should be thoroughly examined to uncover the truth behind the young student's death.

With investigators continuing to probe the case and the prime accused yet to be traced, the missing diary has emerged as a potentially significant piece of evidence in a case that has attracted widespread public attention across Odisha.
