Bhubaneswar, Sep 20: The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the Final Location Survey (FLS) for preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a new railway line connecting Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapada and Gop.

In a letter, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida that the Centre has sanctioned the final location survey (FLS) for the new railway line from Konark to Bhubaneswar.

Expressing her gratitude to the Union Minister, Parida, who represents Nimapara constituency, said, “This long-awaited initiative will not only establish a direct rail link between the State Capital and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Konark but also bring immense benefits to the people of Gop and Nimapada, which fall under my Assembly Constituency.”

She said the new line will boost local economies, support agricultural producers, and provide easier access to healthcare and education for residents.

“Significantly, this railway line will foster regional connectivity and boost tourism. This transformative project will bring lasting benefits to our people,” Parida said.
