Centre to undertake rolling bid for 17 coal blocks of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 12: The Centre is all set to undertake rolling bid for as many as 17 coal blocks of Odisha by June 24. The Union Ministry for Coal has issued notification in this connection on Friday. According to it, as many as 67 potential coal blocks across the country belonging to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh will be auctioned in this process. Especially, the 17 coal blocks of Odisha which are open to be allotted to the bidders after the auction process are Machhakuta, Mahanadi, Nuagaon, Telisahi, Ramachandi, Alakananda, Baratap, Barpahar, Deep extension Belpahar, Deep site Chhatabar, Karadabahal-Brahmanbil, Kosola West, PhulJhari East and West, Saradhapur North , Tentuloi, Chhendipada 1 and Chhendipada 2,Seregarh and Koraloi. Meanwhile, the Centre has called the 11th tender process for Chhendipada 1 and Chhendipada 2, Seregarh and Koraloi while the 12th tender has been called for the rest 13 mines of Odisha. As the Ministry decides, at least five mines of Odisha will be governed by virtue of the Coal Mines Special Provision Act (CMSP) and 12 mines under Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation Act (MMDR). Notably, a high level meeting had been convened in this connection between the officials of the Coal Ministry and the representatives of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi earlier.
