Centre recalls West Bengal chief secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay

New Delhi, May 28: The Centre on Friday recalled West Bengal chief secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay hours after a row broke out over a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. As per the notification of the Centre, Bandyopadhyay, a 1987-cadre IAS officer has been given central deputation with immediate effect. He has been deputed to the Ministry of Public Grievances and Pensions. He has been asked to report DOPT, North Block, New Delhi at 10 AM on May 31. Bandyopadhyay was granted a three-month extension few days ago by the Centre on request from the state. Earlier in the day, a row broke out between PM and Bengal CM when the later skipped Modi’s review meeting on cyclone Yaas. Mamata reportedly arrived 30 minutes late for the review meeting.
