New Delhi, May 8: The Central government has issued an advisory directing OTT platforms and online media services to stop hosting content originating from Pakistan.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting cited national security concerns and the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which had links to Pakistan-based actors.
The advisory, under the IT Rules 2021, asks platforms to adhere to the 'Code of Ethics' and avoid content that could harm India's sovereignty, security, or foreign relations.
It also calls on intermediaries to prevent users from uploading such content.
The directive follows concerns raised by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT over social media activities after the April 22 attack.
