Central team visits Chandka Sanctuary in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: After studying the devouring wildfire in Similipal biosphere, the Central team visited Chandaka sanctuary on the outskirt of Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The team studied the forest fire here, visiting some prominent fire-spots in the core area and analysed the impact of fire on the flora and fauna. Subsequently, the team discussed various aspects of it with the state forest officials in the evening. Union Ministry of Forest and Environment has deputed a technical team comprising Inspector General of Forests (IGF) Amit Mallick of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), Deputy Director General of Forests (Central), Odisha region Subrat Mohapatra and Head of Silviculture of Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE) Arati Choudhary to report on devastating wildfire in Odisha’s Simlipal.
