Puri, Mar 7: Carcass of a rare marine porcupine was found at Beleswar beach along the Puri-Konark Marine drive on Saturday.
A group of fishermen and tourist spotted the carcass while they were passing through the marine mangroves.
The creature looked mysterious for its sharp tentacles spread all over its body. While its belly bears scaly bumps like shark fish.
However, the marine biologist specified it to be one of the species of Puff fish, Blow fish or globe fish.
On the other hand, locals acclaimed that they never seen such a mysterious creature in the surrounding. We have seen typical porcupine in the miscellaneous forest, but never witnessed such remix of porcupine, fish and leopard.
Being informed, Bio-scientist of Marine Fish Research Centre, Puri analysed the carcass. He said, It is a Spot Fin Porcupine fish. It’s biologically classified as Didon Hatrick lianus-1758. It is a poisonous fish that usually inhabits around rocky bed, deep trenched coral reefs.
