Paradip, June 30: Carcass of a rare dolphin known as long-snouted spinner dolphin (stenella) was found at seashore in Paradip today. It was found dead on the sea beach near Paradip Port gate number 5.
Locals spotted the carcass of the dolphin which is 4.5-ft-long and weighed around 20-25 kg and informed the forest officials.
Forest officials said that it was a male carcass and a post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
Forest officials further said that such dolphins are found in tropical, subtropical and, less frequently, in warm temperate waters.
