Bhubaneswar, May 30: A gang of burglars targeting medicine stores during lockdown has raised serious question on night patrolling of police.
The gang so far has targeted around 10 medicine stores in various places of Bhubaneswar including Nayapalli.
The gang decamped with cash worth Rs 1.7 lakh from a medicine store in Nayapalli area on Friday while it also attempted similar attempt in another medicine store in the area. Similarly the gang’s involvement is also suspected in series of failed burglary attempts in Bhubaneswar on May 25.
Police sources said that they could not identify the burglars as they have covered their faces with monkey caps. “We have obtained CCTV footage of several medicine stores where the burglars broke open the lock. We are trying to ascertain the involvement of veteran criminals in the burglaries,” said a police official.
