Budget session tomorrow, will have Question Hour this time; one and half an hour allotted for adj motion

Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: The Budget session of the Odisha Assembly commencing from tomorrow will have Question Hour this time. The previous two sessions of the Assembly (monsoon and winter) had skipped the Question Hour in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. The all-party meeting held today on the eve of the beginning of the budget session decided to have the Question Hour this time in view of relaxed Covid- 19 restrictions. Speaker of Odisha Assembly Dr Surjya Narayan Patro informed the reporters about the decisions after the all-party meeting was over. At the outset of each working day this time, the Assembly will discuss the oral (starred) questions for one hour from 10.30 am. During the previous two sessions, replies to only written (unstarred) questions were tabled on the House. However, conduct of the Covid test of all the legislators and employees will be mandatory before the commencement of the Budget session. Every day, thermal test will be held for entry into Assembly premises. It was decided today to hold discussion on the adjournment motion for one and half an hour every day. Zero Hour will last for one hour. The afternoon sitting will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm. However, the time  may be extended, as and when necessary. Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal will deliver his customary address to the state assembly tomorrow at 11 am to mark the beginning of the Budget session. Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the annual budget in the House  on February 22.
