Cuttack, Aug 16: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha will declare the results of the High School Certificate (HSC) Supplementary Examination and the State Open School Certificate (SOSC) Examination on Saturday, August 16, at 12:30 p.m.
A notification issued by the Board confirmed that the results will cover both regular and ex-regular supplementary candidates, as well as second-phase SOSC examinees.
The supplementary and SOSC examinations for 2025 were conducted between 30 June and 10 July. A total of 3,232 candidates appeared for the HSC supplementary exams across 98 centres, while the SOSC examinations, designed for students outside the mainstream schooling system, saw 10,809 candidates appearing across 103 centres.
Supplementary examinations offer students who were unable to clear their annual HSC or SOSC exams another chance within the same academic year. By conducting these exams mid-year and releasing results before the admission season closes, the BSE ensures that students do not lose a year and can continue smoothly with higher education or vocational training. These alternative pathways are particularly beneficial for candidates who had to leave school early, are studying alongside employment, or come from rural areas with limited access to formal education.
This announcement comes just over three months after the declaration of the annual Class 10 results on May 2, 2025. At that time, School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond announced an overall pass percentage of 94.93%, one of the highest in recent years.
Out of 5,02,417 students who appeared in the matriculation examination, 4,84,863 cleared the test. Girls outperformed boys, with a 96% pass rate compared to 93.81% among boys.
Among the achievers, 1,112 students secured the top A1 grade (above 90% marks), while 12,200 students achieved A2 grades. Another 38,831 students obtained B1 grades, and 84,971 secured B2 grades. More than one lakh students passed in the C grade category, while 67,013 were placed in the minimum E grade.
With the supplementary results due, thousands of students across Odisha now await clarity on their academic progression.
