Brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore seized in Odisha, three arrested

Bhubaneswar, May 12: Continuing their crackdown on drug rackets in Odisha, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch on Wednesday seized 1.042 kg brown sugar and arrested three persons near Dadhimachhagadia under Sadar police limits. The accused have been identified as Ranjan Kumar Patasani, Laxmidhar Swain and Amarendra Mohapatra.  During search, brown sugar weighing 1.042 kg and other incriminating materials were seized from their possession. The approximate market value of the seized contraband will be Rs 1 crore. Since 2020, STF has seized more than 51 kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 gram cocaine and more than 93 quintals of ganja, 750 gram opium and arrested more than 144 drug dealers and peddlers.
