Bhubaneswar, May 5: Long, serpentine queues were seen outside liquor shops in Bhubaneswar after the state government’s announcement of a 14-day lockdown, with tipplers braving the sun for hours and occasionally resorting into heated arguments.
However, a peculiar incident was witnessed in the city, where many persons were seen standing in front of liquor shops to buy alcoholic beverage for young women.
They also charged Rs 30 to buy a full bottle of liquor. service and were getting it without any question. Wine shops across the city saw long lines with hundreds of people waiting to buy liquor on Tuesday.
Many lost patience as the mercury climbed and some even tried to jump queues, leading to tension at some places.
In times of Covid-19, people forgot the deadly virus while in the queue outside wine shops for their drinks. They were seen more concerned about piling their drink for the lockdown period alcohol stock than the Covid threat.
