Bhubaneswar, March 29: At a time when Appropriation Bill was tabled by the government in the Odisha Assembly on Saturday, brigades of Odisha Congress moved Raj Bhawan seeking the GUV’s intervention over the mass suspension of Congress from the house.
A delegation led by the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Das on Saturday met the Governor to lodge a formal complaint against the state government over suspension of 14 legislators from the Odisha Assembly.
Congress delegation cited that the suspension of all of its legislators from the house was an authoritarian decision stifling oppositions’ hoarse voice.
The party also brought Governor’s attention about the prolonged vacancy of the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission.
Meanwhile, veteran Congress leaders pleaded that cases relating atrocities and cruelty towards women could have been better dealt with, in case the Chairperson post would have been in the Chair.
“We are still firm with our demand, that is ‘Constitution of a House committee’, for the sake of women’s safety & security”, said PCC president Bhakta Das.
Meanwhile, the Congress legislative party continued its protest outside the Odisha Assembly so far, following the dissonace took place in the Odisha Assembly a few days ago.
