Bengaluru, July 26: Ending days of speculation, BS Yediyurappa on Monday resigned from the post. He handed over the resignation letter to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot accepted Yediyurappa's resignation and asked him to continue as caretaker CM till the next CM takes oath. It has been an honour to have served the state for the past two years. I have decided to resign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. I am humbled and sincerely thank the people of the state for giving me the opportunity to serve them, Yediyurappa tweeted before leaving for Raj Bhawan. Yediyurappa served as the Chief Minister for two years after he took office on July 26, 2019. It was a surprise for me. He told me that he may receive a favorable decision from the high command by July 26. But we all have to abide by the norms of the party. He is only quitting CM post, not active politics, Karnataka Minister K Sudhakar said on CM Yediyurappa's stepping down.
