Bhubaneswar, May 4: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) today advised voters to wear face masks while casting their votes in the Brajarajnagar bypoll. The bypoll for the assembly constituency will be held on May 31. The bypoll for the constituency was necessitated after the demise of BJD legislator Kishore Kumar Mohanty. Mohanty had passed away on December 30 after suffering from heart stroke. “Thermal scanning of each voter will be done at entry points as was followed during the last bye elections in 2020 and 2021. Hand sanitizers will be applied to each voter before entering the booth,” said the CEO. The CEO further said that adequate EVMs & VVPATs have been procured. “The first level checking of EVMs is already over. A total of 699 ballot units, 686 control units and 700 VVPATs are available with DEO and Collector, Jharsuguda for use in the bypoll,” added the CEO.
