Bhubaneswar airport construction mishap: OHRC orders payment of Rs 2.5 L to the deceased's kin

Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has directed Dillip Construction Pvt Ltd to provide ex-gratia of Rs 2.5 lakh to kin of deceased and assistance of Rs 50,000 to another injured in terminal linkage building mishap at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Friday night. One person identified as Antaryami Guru was killed while Nabakishore Swain was injured after the roof of an under-construction building collapsed here in the premises of BPIA. The OHRC has also asked the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to make the payment if the private firm fails to pay the amount and later recover the money from the private contractor. The OHRS has also asked the Dillip Construction Pvt Ltd and Director of BPIA to submit a written reply in this regard by February 11. Police have earlier arrested MD of Dilip Construction Private Limited, Dillip Kumar Khatei (60) and another employee of the construction firm Abhilash Sarkar (26). Besides police have also arrested two AAI employees identified as Gautam Ray (55) and Asish Sarakr (46) for the mishap.
