Bhubaneswar, Oct 3: The ‘mobile sample collection van’ to carry out swab sample collection introduced by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) so far has collected around 2400 samples for Covid-19. Officials said that around 700 senior citizens, 70 pregnant women and 200 differently-abled persons are among the beneficiaries of the mobile testing unit. “On Friday a 102 year-old woman of Old Town also availed the service of the mobile van. The team found that the old woman was lying in her home with fever,” said an official. The mobile van was introduced on July 31. The customized mobile testing van, carrying lab technicians, has been collecting swab samples from elderly people, senior citizens or those having serious health issues and having difficulties in mobility. The van is also being sent to different places such as bus stands, railway stations, airports and interior areas in the city for sample collection.
