BMC, Police to intensify drive against violation of Covid-19 norms

Bhubaneswar, Mar 24: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation(BMC) and Commissionerate Police have expedited the drive to penalise people not wearing masks. The decision to expedite the drive was taken after a surge in number of Covid-19 cases across the State. "Being concerned over the surging of Covid-19 cases in the city and around,the BMC has intensified awareness campaign on use of mask. It is going to ensure strict implementation of Covid-19 protocol across Bhubaneswar, said Deputy Commissioner, BMC Subhendu Sahu. He also said that mass testing will be conducted at hostels in the state capital. Besides, the Commissionerate Police has started its special drive to detect violation of Covid-19 guidelines. Newly joined Police Commissioner Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi took the lead in the drive near Master Canteen area on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Umashankar Dash said that the drive will be intensified in busy market areas.
