Bhubaneswar, Jul 9: The bail hearing for BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, currently lodged in Ward No. 29 of Jharpada Special Jail as an undertrial, will take place today at the District and Sessions Court in Khordha. Pradhan is facing charges in connection with the alleged assault of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
Pradhan had earlier applied for bail in the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court, which rejected his plea. Following this, he approached the District and Sessions Court for relief.
As per court directives, the Investigating Officer from Kharavelnagar Police Station submitted the case diary on Tuesday. With the diary now on record, the Sessions Court is set to hear the bail plea today. Senior Advocate Chittaranjan Das is representing Pradhan in the case.
The BJP leader has been booked under multiple sections of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for his alleged involvement in the assault.
