Agartala, Nov 28: BJP has created history in Tripura civic polls by winning all 14 urban bodies which went to polls on November 15. It made a clean sweep in 11 urban bodies, including Agartala Municipal Corporation. Out of the 222 seats across 14 urban bodies that went to the polls, BJP emerged victorious in 217. The Trinamool Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Pradyot Kishore-led TIPRA Motha managed to clinch a seat each in the Ambassa urban body. The remaining 12 seats were won by the ruling BJP with a strike rate of 80%. Meanwhile, in Panisagar and Kailashahar, the CPI (M) won one seat each in the two civic bodies. The ruling BJP had won 112 seats uncontested as no party had fielded their candidates. “This was a historic victory and the people of Tripura have given a “sothik jobaab” (apt answer) by casting votes which ensured that BJP won 98.50 percent of the seats,” said Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
