
Bhubaneswar/Kolkata, October 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for an official statement from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the horrific gang rape of a second-year MBBS student from a private medical college in Durgapur.
Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, criticized the lack of arrests despite an FIR being filed in the case. He also raised concerns over the ineffective response of the West Bengal Commission for Women.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi strongly condemned the heinous incident. In a social media post, Majhi expressed his sorrow over the crime and urged Mamata Banerjee to take stringent action against the culprits, calling the incident "deeply unfortunate" and emphasizing the need for justice.
