BJP begins stir against BJD rule

Last Updated October 27, 2018

Bhubaneswar: The BJP today launched its State-wide block gherao programme to protest corruption, misappropriation of Central Government funds and percent commission (PC) system during the 19 years of BJD rule led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. As part of the protest, the party activists held demonstrations in front of all the 314 blocks across the State today. The agitation will be held for three days – October 27, 29 and 30. The saffron party alleged that the block offices have become the major hub of corruption and PC collection and functioning like BJD offices. The block office gherao programme is part of the series of campaign against the ruling BJD chalked out by BJP in the recently held State executive committee. Holding banners and placards and shouting anti-Government, the saffron party activists are sitting in dharna outside the block offices. Many senior party leaders too have participated in the agitation.
