Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided to stage a three-day protest on the rising LPG price from November 22.

Women, student and youth wings of the regional party will stage protest before the RDC offices on November 22, 23, and 24, informed senior BJD leaders Pramila Mallick, Byomakesh Ray, and Devi Ranjan Tripathy in a press conference held on Wednesday here.

“At least 40 per cent hike in the price of cooking gas is very difficult and we, the Biju Mahila Janata Dal, the Biju Yuva Janata Dal and the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, have come together to condemn this unreasonable price hike which is adversely affecting millions women in Odisha,” the BJD leaders said.

With the rise in cooking gas prices, the Center is facing a major setback. The scheme was launched with great pomp and circumstance to provide cheap cylinders to the poor people of the society but unfortunately, it has failed. According to the latest survey, the use of cooking gas in the much-publicized Ujwala scheme is very low, the conch party leaders alleged.

“We will stage protests and agitations in front of the RDC Offices in Odisha over the skyrocketing hike in the LPG. Particularly, the party will demonstrate before the RDC office,Central Range on November 22, ,” BJD leaders said.

Similarly,“On November 23, we will protest in front of the Northern RDC office in Sambalpur and Southern RDC office in Berhampur on November 24 over the issue.Subsequently,we will submit a memorandum to the President through the RDCs in this connection,” said the BJD leaders.
