Bhubaneswar, March 1: With 52.73 percent vote share in 2022 panchayat poll, BJD has secured its highest-ever vote share in any election it has fought so far. The ruling BJD also created history by winning 766 Zilla Parishad zones (one uncontested), the highest-ever by any party in rural polls in the state. BJP and Congress won in mere 42 and 37 Zilla Parishad (ZP) seats, respectively. BJP’s vote share has plunged to 30 per cent while Congress recorded 13.57 per cent vote share. Out of 2,10,28,403 valid votes, the BJD received a total of 1,10,89,712 votes (52.73%) followed by BJP with 63,23,746 votes (30.07%), Congress with 28,54,398 votes (13.57%), Others (4,79,334 votes) and Independent (2,81,213 votes).
