Delhi, August 1: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MPs on Sunday demanded a Geographical Indication tag (GI tag) for the ‘Kendrapara Rasabali’, a sweet which traces its origin to the 400-year-old Baldevjew temple in Kendrapara district. Three BJD MPs Subash Chandra Singh, Munna Khan and Mamta Mohanta met Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum regarding the GI tag for Kendrapara Rasabali. Appraising the historical and mythological origin of the Rasabali, they demanded a GI tag for it as it will provide a distinct identity to the sweet delicacy.
