BJD MLAs demand action against BJP's Subash Panigrahi for attempting suicide in Assembly

Bhubaneswar, Mar 13: The ruling party legislators today shouted slogans in the House demanding action against BJP MLA Subash Panigrahi, who had attempted suicide in Odisha Assembly yesterday. The BJD members alleged that Panigrahi has ruined the sanctity of the House by attempting suicide when it was in session. They gathered in the Well of the House and shouted slogans urging Speaker Dr. Surya Narayan Patro to take disciplinary action against Panigrahi. The BJP lawmaker had attempted suicide by consuming sanitiser in the Assembly on Friday expressing his displeasure over irregularities in procurement of paddy from the farmers. The Deogarh MLA had earlier warned the House to end his life if the state government does not address the mandi issues. His suicide attempt was yesterday thwarted by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh anjd fellow MLAs.
