Rairangpur, June 20: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in her hometown of Rairangpur on a two-day visit to Odisha and will celebrate her birthday there on Saturday, sparking excitement among local residents.
The President received a warm welcome from Odisha Governor Haribabu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union and State ministers, MPs, senior officials and public representatives upon her arrival on Friday.
During the visit, President Murmu inaugurated a free health camp organised in collaboration with AIIMS Bhubaneswar and dedicated several public welfare projects to the people. These included the mega piped water supply project for Kusumi block, a new Brahma Kumaris building, a Special Circuit House and the office of the Superintendent of Police for the newly formed Rairangpur Police District.
As part of the second day of her visit, President Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to attend the ‘Bikashara Dhara, Odisha Sara’ mega public gathering at Dandabosh Ground in Rairangpur, marking two years of the Odisha government.
The Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹47,600 crore in the sectors of power, railways, roads, healthcare and education.
Due to inclement weather on Friday, the President travelled by road from Kolaikunda to Rairangpur via Jharpokharia and Bisoi before reaching her hometown in the evening.
