Biden expresses concerns over human rights situation in Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong

Washington, Nov 16: US President Joe Biden has raised concerns over the human rights situation in Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong during a virtual meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Tuesday. President Biden raised concerns about the PRC’s practices in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong, as well as human rights more broadly. He was clear about the need to protect American workers and industries from the PRC’s unfair trade and economic practices, informed White House. He also discussed the importance of a free & open Indo-Pacific & communicated the continued determination of the US to uphold our commitments in the region. Pres Biden reiterated the importance of freedom of navigation & safe overflight to the region’s prosperity. On Taiwan, Pres Biden underscored that US remains committed to “one China” policy, guided by Taiwan Relations Act, the 3 Jt Communiques&6 Assurances&that US strongly opposes unilateral efforts to change status quo or undermine peace&stability across Taiwan Strait
